national and international news developments in conversations
with newsmakers, thinkers, journalists, and citizens from
around the world. The program is broadcast Monday through
Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET in Boston, Massachusetts,
and at various other times on 120

A talk program and news-magazine hybrid, On Point puts
each day's news into context and provides a lively forum
for discussion and debate, bringing callers from around
the country and the world into the conversation. Topics
are taken from the biggest news stories of the day, often
breaking news. Interwoven are programs containing interviews
with personalities, politicians, musicians, writers, and
journalists. On Point seeks out distinct and provocative
voices that may be new to public radio or that may not have
been heard in quite the same context before.
On Point host Tom Ashbrook,
a longtime foreign correspondent and Boston Globe editor, combines
a reporter's instincts with a listener's openness and curiosity. The program's
news analyst, Jack
Beatty, a longtime senior editor at The Atlantic Monthly, adds his own depth
of knowledge and perspective to the conversation.
On Point's senior producer is Wen
Stephenson and the senior editor is Karen
Shiffman. Its team of producers includes Eileen
Imada, Stefano Kotsonis,
Julie Diop, Hilary
Barngrove McQuilkin, Tania Ralli
and John Wihbey. The On Point website
is designed, produced and maintained by WBUR's New Media
Department.
On Point is ideally suited to be the morning
news and information program for public radio listeners
following Morning Edition. For more information, contact
